At the University of Nevada, Reno, Mr. Demuth teaches Environmental Policy and Law creating an upper-division course on NEPA that he has been teaching since 2006. Mr. Demuth was appointed in 2010 to the faculty of the National Geothermal Academy and has taught upper-division courses on Geothermal Policy and Law during the academy’s inaugural summer 2011, summer 2012, and summer 2013 sessions.
UNR/GBI NEPA Grant.
The U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Lassen, Plumas, Eldorado, Sequoia, and Inyo National Forests (NFs) are proposing six (6) projects to provide community wildfire protection, fuels reduction, hazard tree removal, and fire recovery to meet USFS forest health objectives and enact community protection measures. GBI has enetered into an agreement with UNR and more specifically Mr. Demuth, as the NEPA Program Management Consultant (NPMC) to provide overall NEPA program management services and oversight of the preparation of the six (6) NEPA projects and documents: French Fire EA, Windy Fire CE, Eldorado Hazard Tree Removal EA, Plumas Community Fire Protection EA, the Inyo Forest Resilience EA, and the Dixie Fire EA.

This course provides the essentials of NEPA, how to work on an interdisciplinary team to prepare NEPA documentation (Environmental Assessments [EAs] and Environmental Impact Statements [EISs]) and how to review these documents.
