Mark. A. Demuth, M.Ed., M.S., M.S., AICP

Mr. Demuth has over 38 years of experience providing environmental consulting, documentation, and training to geotechnical, civil engineering, and archaeological firms in both the public and private sectors.

While with MADCON, a firm Mr. Demuth started in 1988, he produced hundreds of environmental documents including environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, safety documents, and pollution prevention plans. He was contracted by the City of Reno at the inception of the Reno Transportation Rail Access Corridor (ReTRAC) project in 1996 to manage the environmental program from the feasibility stage through construction monitoring (check out the ReTRAC Gallery). Over the course of the project he produced numerous technical studies and specifications.

Since 1987, Mr. Demuth has conducted numerous environmental compliance projects in the areas of exploration drilling, mine development, water exploration, and preconstruction and construction of infrastructure for clients throughout the western United States. Mr. Demuth joined WCRM in 2010, after nearly 20 years with his own firm. As a principal of WCRM, he applied his extensive experience in extractive resource environmental compliance projects to mining, oil and gas exploration projects, and alternative energy development projects.

Mr. Demuth holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kent State University, a Master in Education from Vanderbilt University, and separate Master of Science degrees in Environmental & Natural Resource Science and Land Use Planning from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he is now a member of the adjunct faculty. At the university, Mark teaches Environmental Policy and Law creating an upper-division course on NEPA that he has been teaching since 2006. Mr. Demuth was appointed in 2010 to the faculty of the National Geothermal Academy and has taught upper-division courses on Geothermal Policy and Law during the academy’s inaugural summer 2011, summer 2012, and summer 2013 sessions. He is frequently requested to speak at conferences on a variety of natural resource law topics.
